Hollywood Bowl Concert – 25 & 26th of July 2008
Well after such a long time thinking of what to do, if to go or not to go to the Bowl, we decided in a very last moment that we should go. So we booked our Hotel and Flights to LA a 15 hrs Flight to LA via the East Coast Gateway.
Here we go on the trip, when we arrived there in the middle of the night , Carolin just arrived a couple of hours earlier than i did . I just came to LA close arround midnight .
So we went straight to the Hotel which was located close to Hollywood Hills not very far from the Hollywood bowl . Very central located easely to walk to all the main attractions in that area.
When we finally arrived there , we decided to go to the Venue the Bowl to pick up our Tickets at the Will Call Ticketoffice .
We were aware of that but „ well who cares „ it’s the Bowl we have to be there. It’s a must go for every Ross Fan . Superp Location just wonderfull for our Supreme Lady !
To our Surprise :
The Next Day, Ruth from Glasgow send us an text that she was on her way to LA , which was not planed at all , what a surprise ྶ? we went to the Airport and picked her up.
So the Overseas Crew was complete again and ready to have a Ross Party ( 2 days party )
Day 2 was almost similar to day one , Except Endless Love Miss Ross was planed to that Song before , but for some reason she decided to do Theme from Mahagony …. ”Miss Ross anytime ‚’ HA ? ….what ???? A Michael masser Song ( ?? ) ....ok anytime

While sitting on our benches in Block D we saw Tracee coming in , Evan with some friends , later on Chudney arrived also . We went over to Tracee to have a chat with her, she was really nice . We asked her if she would do a picture with us and she replied later after the show , but for some reason she came over after a couple of minutes and said „guys can we do the pictures right now „

so we took two pictures …….well , it’s my second time that i met Tracee ( first time in Nicosia 2005 at the Moat ) …she looks so much like her mom .
It was quite nice to meet some of the Fans we know for so many years from touring the world with Miss Ross .
We met Gregg Simons , Thomas, Dustin and so many others . Sorry for not having more time to hang with you guys after the Show , but i am sure we will have the chance again very soon . So for the next time have a lil time left and count us in .
Anyway even with our seats in the Block D/E we had such a great view on Stage , I think almost better as the Pool Circle Ticket holders. No just jokking .. we were very happy with our Seats.

Our short time stay in LA went just over so quickly , i wish we had more time …..but !!! We will be back very soon for sure !

Out and About in WEHO :
Even West Hollywood was not that far away . Anyway we just had a blast going out to the nicest places Santa Monica Blvd.
When we were in WEHO we decided to have Dinner at Abbey Food and Bar , we arrived there very early that evening to catch a good seat , after a couple of rounds we found an parking lot in Weho right on Santa Monica Blvd and Vine . Luckely we were able to find a parkinglot , so we parked the car there and went to the Abbeys which was accross the Street ..you might wonder why i am writing about this but you have to read further more to get this :-)
We were Arrested …or detained …. ??
NO NO !! we were not arrested !! We were detained ! There is a difference ! …OK…
After a couple of hours we were almost done with Dinner and drinks so We left the Abbey’s around 10:30 PM to head to our Car . When we arrived there Ruth just said where had we parked our car , walking up the street no sign of our Car , going back ( ease on down the road) ..no signes of the car . Ruth later on mentioned the Car should be more on top of the Hill , i said Ruth the Car was here before not any further up…..the long and winding Road…
Well anyway , the car was not there , maybe we are on the wrong Street …did we passed that street already ..???!! The same moment one of the house owners accross the Street came out of the house and told uns there was an car towed away that evening , maybe 30 min before we arrived there to pick up the car….. SHOCK where is our car …???
Anyway , the car was gone , towed -- so we had no clue where is our car was and where we go to get our car back ……So we called a cab and asked if he can bring us to that place , it tooks us only 20 minutes , when we got there. There was black big huge Guy and he was vey unfriendly and unhelpful , we did a lot of Jokes but he was not funny at all.
This Guy was really slow took us a long time to get back our Car. Finally after we paid 180U$ we got our car back.
We tried to call Miss Ross , but she wasnt around ( because she always says „ If you need me call me „ …..
Where have you been , when we needed you :-)

Well here my lttle Story what happened during the short Tour in Europe and read what happened its quite interesting to read all the little details . Hope you enjoy it !
Saturday morning’s Nightmare
Saturday morning a kind of a nightmare ..Running late catch a flight …finally i got on , and there she was seated in coach class ……
Well lets start with this one , Saturday morning my Alarm - clock didnt ring , ordered an wakeup call but the reception didn‘t call . Ruth ,Carolin, Helen ,Sarah & Lynn all in another Hotels were waiting outside the Hotel on a bus to the airport , but i was not on the Bus when it arrived at their Bus.
Ruth and Carolin called me on the cell but i didnt heard it . I guess after 20 times and more ringing my cell i just finally woke up. Ruth just said where are you , well totally confused still sleeping i replied what time is it , ruth just said you will miss the flight you got only 25 minutes left to get to the airport.
I got myself dressed up ran to the reception and checked out , while the others checked in on their flight to Manchester . Luckely a cab was waiting outside the Hotel picking up an waiting pilot to get his Flight from Gatwick , well they just said we will give you a ride to the Airport , hurry take a seat in the Car , you would not believe what happened i got into the car on the wrong side the Taxi driver just asked me do you want to drive to the Airport ? totally shocked i said sh.... i am in the UK so the steering wheel is on the other site of the car …funny...ha ha , Carolin Ruth Helen had such a good laugh on me :-) grrr..
Boarding the Aircraft:
Finally i boarded the Aircraft , Ruth and Carolin just saw me not thinking about that i was really gonna make my flight and when they saw me they all yelled „he is here „ how did you managed to get this flight, i said i have no idea i was just running thru the waiting hall , thru Security and all the way to the waiting aircraft ..i guess it was really a long way to run , but i finally made it the last minute .
Miss Ross became aware of me , her head went up high and when she saw me , she asked where have you been that long, i heard you overslept , i just said yes and i didnt received an wake up call , so she smiled, than she said „ are you ok ? Yes Miss Ross i am ok , how about you she said i am fine …she said it was so cold last night (Petworth) and asked I hope you didnt catch a cold in the Rain , i said i am fine …well i didnt felt the cold , it was more wet than the cold…. but we all survived :-)
I am trying to remember all the little details which Miss Ross said during the Flight ..well so many thigs she said …still overwhelmed by these moments !
Well during the check in process , and already closed flight (the gate agent just told me you are not getting on …well i do ) the girls were on the Aircraft already even Miss Ross were on , was talking to the girls she was asking Carolin where is your Companion , Carolin just said well he over-slept . Miss Ross started to laugh, how funny..ha..ha ( Nothing to laugh Miss Ross i was close to an Heartattack that morning ) .......besides this i almost missed the best part , again on a flight with Miss Ross :-) like last year after the Dublin Concert , my way to London ( i reported )
During the Flight to Manchester :
Just to give you an short overview what happened on our flight to manchester before the concert on Saturday . when we were on the airplane Miss Ross was sitting right in front of me in row 2 or 3 , next to her her security guy which was traveling with her during the tour . Miss Ross had an window seat , we were all seated in coach class , Ruth, Carolin ,Helen, Sarah and lynn the complete Row one was for the them .
I saw Miss Ross was watching a DVD during the flight and had her headphones on (Miss Ross does not owe an Laptop like otherwise reported , its an portable DVD Player) , seems like she enjoyed the movie very much since she laughed a couple of times.

Well it was funny , when the Crew served some morning breakfast , they went to over Miss Ross and asked if she likes something to eat, yes she accepted something , and than they asked her if she likes to have coffee or tea .....she stretched out her coffee cup not even looked to the Purser and said very loud „ TEA “ i guess this was because she didnt heard anything with her Earphones on , still watching DVD....
we laughed about that … “ TEA „
Finally arrived in Manchester:
When we arrived in Manchester i got up from my seat and Miss Ross stood up and ask me „ are you going to see my show in LA at the Hollywood Bowl , i replied and said yes of course and she ask do you have your tickets already for that one.......
To be a fan for such a long time:
While deboarding the airplane and walking outside thru the Gangway Miss Ross was asking what is your favorite song , what do you like most ? Well I miss very much as an Intro “ Take me Higher “ another great song “ Missing you , Endless Love . Miss Ross than asked arent you tired of traveling , i said i am doin this since 1982 ( in 1982 i went to the very first concert ….so i am around for quite a while …. so we had really a nice long conversation, not like the Hi and Bye stories we had before , this time it was totally a different story , Miss Ross also spoke a lot and went really into conversation, seemed like she had fun to talk with her fans . And while we were walking thru the Terminal Miss Ross was asking us for our Cell phone nbrs.
The VideoClip Story:
Miss Ross looked to me and we were talking about the concert at petworth park ….Miss Ross also complained about me , since I’v made a video clip in petworth during the concert , she said to Ruth and Carolin …he didn‘t watched my show , he just was to busy doin a video and to look in his camera .
To be honest I just did some very short clips , not even worth to talk about since i made mostly pictures , they turned out very well …..great pics (which you will see here)
Felt very sorry about it …:
Well i said to Miss Ross , „ Miss Ross , sorry for last night , i just did some short Video clips and i watched your show of course, I promised not to show them on YOUTUBE .
Miss Ross laughed when i said that and replied and touched my armed (like a good friend) I know you wont do that ! Of course i wont do that , because I respect her wish and request.
We spoke so much and she asked quite a lot question , i was totally nervous …
It was fun to have Miss Ross on board (again)…remember she was on my flight last year from Dublin to London Heathrow . But last time we didn’t had the opportunity to talk since she was in first class and I was flying coach, but at least she signed my Boarding Pass .
Petworth Park Concert:
Here are some facts of the concert in petworth , as you might have heard already the weather was not quite that good as we expected
to be.
When we arrived at 3 PM local time petworth park , the weather was quite ok , cloudy and windy but no signs of rain …we arrived the park early to assure we get a good seat in front of the stage . Well we had Golden Circle tickets but still free seating on the ground or standing position, we were the only ones when we arrived to get access to the Gate . Others came very late .
When they opened the doors at 6Pm the weather didnt looked that good anymore and we saw it will be raining very soon.
7:00 PM a support act started to do their show , a group i never heard before .
Its like Central Park (again):
Miss Ross started around 8 30 by than it started to rain a lot , i remember Miss Ross said its like central park concert , Yeah, we do all remember this one …we won’t melt , for you :-) and we had our rain ponchos on , shower caps.....so proberly dressed for an outdoor Concert …
No Wind, no Rain....... can keep us from you ……

The setlist was very similar to the others , not quite a difference as the other one some of the shows had LSTB Section others had Come see about me , this time no Endless Love or Why do fools fall in love . The Intro of the shows were „I’m coming out “ .
Duration of the Concerts :
The longest show I have been, was the Carcassone show , seems like this was quite over 95minutes long a lil over 20 songs
The Audience was really on their feets during the concert in CCS , Liverpool was a fantastic crowd .Seems like th UK Audience is more into a Party mood .
Some other things to mention , Miss Ross told the audience that she felt in Monaco on stage and nobody came to pick her up,until Fred made up his way to pick her up from the stage , she slipped on the flowers which the audience throw on stage while she performed . (watch your way Miss Ross)
My new Album , no ....i mean current...
Another great moment to mention was when Miss Ross told the Audience in Liverpool that her brand new album „ no my current Album „ which is called I love you….she laughed a lot , well ..current …Anyway the audience laughed a lot .
One of the Fans gave her a picture of Miss Ross and her sister Rita , Miss Ross said oh you know my family ( C’mon we all know your family very well) of course we do .
Waitng in the Wings at Toulouse Airport
While waiting at the airport in Toulouse , Carolin and me were talking about Miss Ross (of course what else ) and we were talking how it would be if she would be on our flight to Amsterdam ..well we had a good laugh, i just remember that i said she left already Carcassonne to go Zurich , Carolin said i think she is going to London . Well we thought we will never find out since she was going to fly private.
Anyway , Carolin said it would be fun if Miss Ross would at least pass our way , and i said no way ..she made a lot of jokes ie.
Look Miss Ross is coming and i said „ Ja Ja „ (which means yeah you’re right) ......and she said yeah she is coming , and i just replied dont joke on me that early in the morning , and for whatever reason i looked to the right site and there she was, coming over to us , she smiles and said good morning , shook our hands and asked where are you going , i said we are going home , Carolin said Miss Ross we are going to be in Zurich, so see you there.
It seems like that she boarded the same flight as we did since she walked to our Gate ( AMSTERDAM FLIGHT ) she wend into the Gangway , but for some reason she wasnt there , i assume she just used the gangway to get to a car which were waiting outside the Ramp Area.
Still thinking she will be already on board , we passed the Business Class first , but no Miss Ross, i just said to Carolin may she used the Bathroom (like she did last year ), but after about 15 minutes and a closed flight she was not on :- ( .
I just thought what a funny moment at least we saw her early in the mornng .
You know is gets really hard to remember what she wore when she arrived at the airport .
Well cant wait for the Hollywood Bowl concert in july , both days ....long traveltimes , still trying to figure out how she is going to do this , ist really hard to travel , going to airport fliying there and so on........
Do a little Sound check in Carcassonne
In carcassonne we stayed at the Ibis Hotel , so we went to the Venue to have a look where our Seats were located , the Venue itself looked very historical , quite a nice place for our Diva . A perfect location…. We had a sneak view inside the Venue before the Show started .
The Band were doin a Soundcheck so we were able to listen to them , it was cool m thanks for let us in ...

SEEING Diana Ross grinning her mile-wide smile, luminous in a froth of tangerine tulle with the opening chords of Where Did Our Love Go thrumming away, was a spine-tingling moment.
It felt somehow historic – here was a platinum-plated Motown legend, singing one of her most celebrated hits at the Echo Arena.
And, from the second Miss Ross shimmied on stage, she had a grateful and dressed-up-to-the- nines crowd eating out of her tiny and perfectly manicured hand.
From the lively opener, I'm Coming Out, they were on their feet and responding to her every command. Where Did Our Love Go? segued seamlessly into a pitch- perfect Baby Love, then to Stop, Can't Hurry Love, to Touch Me in the Morning and Love Hangover. The hits just kept on coming.
A quick change saw her re- emerge draped in a wide-sleeved gold, spangly robe for a flirtatious It's My House and a clutch of current songs, including the unexpectedly haunting What About Love, which sat well with her back catalogue. A foray into the 70s brought the breathless Upside Down and sinuous Ease on Down the Road.
For the most part, she let the music and her outfits do the talking. Her next costume change was into an impossibly tight, off- the- shoulder black and nude number with a swathe of roses seemingly covering her modesty, and her age-defying figure and supreme confidence generated an admiring buzz of admiring chatter round the auditorium.
She blew gracious kisses at the crowd and occasionally just offered herself up, arms wide, for its adoration. At times she did seem a touch bemused by the Liverpool audience – doing a little impression of the pint in hand robotic dancing of members at the front ("I love it!") and accepting tributes including flowers and, bizarrely, a computer generated photo of her sister Rita in a plastic envelope, with a polite "ah and you know my family".
After a perfect rendition of Billie Holiday's Don't Explain, it was back to full-on diva, with a sparkly lemon yellow gown and voluminous tulle wrap. Why Do Fools (Fall in Love), the theme from Mahogany and Ain't No Mountain High Enough had the crowd in raptures, ending appropriately enough with Gloria Gaynor's I Will Survive.
The crowd hooted and stamped for an encore, eagerly anticipating Chain Reaction, so far conspicuously missing from the set. Ross emerged in her final and most surprising costume change yet – a short black vest and spandex leggings.
After belting out a few more bars of I Will Survive, she quit the stage, leaving the crowd hovering uncertainly. Surely that couldn't be it?
But it was and, like Ms Holliday, Ross didn't offer an explanation.
That's divas for you
SUPREME: Diana Ross gave the sort of performance her fans crave.
By MIKE TORPEY, Monday July 14th 2008. The Liverpool Echo newspaper. The Brightest star of the Summer Pops season put on the sort of
performance her fans crave from the most successful female singer of all time.
Diana Ross at 64, looks half her age and has a figure most women would die for and a chemistry with her audience that few can match.
There was no packed stage at the ECHO arena on Saturday, no orchestra or barrage of musicians, just a tight group comprising
guitar, bass, keyboards, two backing singers.
The lights dimmed, the band built to a crescendo and the crowd rose to it's feet as Diana made a grand entrance from the top of a staircase to the driving beat of I'm Coming out. It was big hair and sparkly tangerine gown as she greeted a packed arena and invited the adoring fans to "sing along to a few of these if you're old enough to remember them.
The Motown hits began rolling, from the song that launched the Supremes career "Where did our love go", through Baby love, Stop in the name of love. Then it was a switch to the 70's as Diana's voice soared on Touch me in the morning and Love Hangover before she left the stage for the first of the four costume changes during the 95-minute show.
The new Ross album, her first for seven years, was showcased with the ballard "What about love"- from the Colour Purple- as the tempo changed again.
An Arena probably isn't the ideal venue for jazz like "Don't Explain", from Lady Sings The Blues, but they underline the scope of an artist who clearly loves performing in the Capital of Culture.
"If I could live my life again I wouldn't change a thing" she said "I am really living my dream and the audiences like you here in Liverpool are such a part of it. I wish I could see all your faces". While this show could have been an over-the-top, sugary sweet ego trip for a multi millionaire diva, it was nothing of the sort.
This is a sincere performance, positively oozing good vibes and Ain't no Mountain Higher Enough boasted the evening's high-light. Diana dispensed with the glam dresses for a training top and leggings and took a final bow to the continuing strains of I Will Survive.
She's certainly done that- and judging by this performance, there's plenty more to come.
Rating:- 9/10 Supreme Superstar.

Review: Live at Sunset: Diana Ross
Auftakt mit zwei Glanzpunkten: Diana Ross und Al Jarreau geben zwei grosse Konzerte und beweisen, warum Live at Sunset einfach eine Klasse für sich ist.
Sie kam mit den für einen Star charakteristischen paar Minuten zu spät, aber wer fragt nach solchen Kleinigkeiten, wenn Diana Ross nach Zürich kommt?! Wie eine Königin schritt sie die an sich kurze Treppe auf der Bühne herunter, breitete majestätisch die Arme aus und... begann einfach grossartig zu singen. Im Publikum ist viel über ihr Alter (Jahrgang 1944) verraunt worden, und man gemutmasst, wie sie das macht, dass sie noch immer einfach toll aussieht. Aber ihre Stimme war schlicht umwerfen, ihre ganze Erscheinung der Inbegriff von Glamour: Sie trug (zuerst) ein bodenlanges, rotes und natürlich glitzerndes Kleid mit langem Umhang, den sie lässig schütteln und im richtigen Moment abwerfen konnte, so dass ihre tolle Figur gänzlich zur Geltung kam. Sie erinnerte an eine entfernte Verwandte von Scarlett O’Hara. Das Publikum war hin und weg, begeistert wurde schon bei der ersten Nummer getanzt, bei jeder sich bietenden Gelegenheit wild mitgeklatscht, in den kurzen Pausen zwischen den Nummern lautest gejubelt und gepfiffen. Die Dame brauchte sich nur ostentativ an ihre Haare zu greifen, und schon war man(n) einfach nur glücklich.
Der wesentliche Punkt war, dass das Glück ganz gegenseitig war: Diana Ross war in Spiellaune, gutgelaunt, liebenswürdig, zu Spässchen aufgelegt, animierte zum Mitsingen, liess sich von Fans genüsslich feiern, und machte ein paar schmeichelhafte und richtige Bemerkungen, was das Festival betrifft: Die Idee eben live at sunset zu singen, sei eine geniale, weil sie so endlich mal Publikum „and all the happy faces“ sehe und sich daran freuen könne! Natürlich kokettierte sie mit ihrem Alter und mit dem ihrer Fans, die die allermeisten Lieder erkannten, und mit ihrem Habitus: In Jeans werde man sie garantiert nie erleben. Viermal wechselte sie ihre Garderobe (im Dunkeln hinter der Bühne, wie sie scherzte) und sah jedes Mal grossartig aus. Und gegen Schluss nahm sie noch ein Sträusschen entgegen, bedankte sich ganz artig und freute sich. Nun, bislang ging es vor allem um den Auftritt, gesungen wurde natürlich genau das, was man von Diana Ross erwartete: Upside Down, I’m Coming Out, Stop! In The Name Of Love und viele weitere Hits aus ihrer Schatulle aber auch die ganz grossen und geliebten Songs wie You can’t hurry love aus Mahagony Do you know where you’re going to gab sie zum Besten. Wer Diana Ross singen, richtig singen hören wollte, wurde mit einer langsameren Nummer aus der neuen I Love You Platte bedient. Musikalisch blieb kein Wunsch offen.
Dass Diana Ross aber nicht umsonst als Diva bekannt ist, bewies sie mit ihrem wenig gelungenen Abgang. Plötzlich verschwand sie hinter der Bühne. Das Publikum glaubte nur Zeuge einer weiteren „Verwandlungsaktion“ zu werden, doch die Dame kam nicht wieder, da half alles Gejubel und Gebrüll nichts. Eine Zugabe gab es nach knapp 90 Minuten keine. Konsternierung machte sich breit, grosse Enttäuschung und auch ein bisschen Empörung. Da fühlte man sich an den amerikanischen Film „Juno“ erinnert, wo die Heldin gefragt wird, wie sie zu diesem illustren Namen gekommen sei. „Juno“ erklärt sie, sei eine römische Göttin. Und weil das dem durchschnittlichen Amerikaner nichts sagt, fügt sie an: „Apparently she was supposed to be super beautiful but really mean, like Diana Ross.“ Aber wann hat man sonst je die Chance gehabt, Diana Ross live und in so intimem Rahmen zu erleben

Carcassonne was a totally different experience and i believe it was a truly event for the people who attended the show : She sang many up-tempo tunes and everybody was dancing and singing , and the atmosphere was much more happier and hot ...except for the weather : it was such a windy and cold evening ...brrrr....Even Diana continued to ask to the audience if we were feeling cold but the crowd in the back shouted "NO" ! ;-) I was in the front row on the right of the stage and enjoied to see Diana so closely : she is still very BEAUTIFUL and still sexy on the Stage ;-) She walked from one point to the stage to another and even if she didn't shake any hands or touch anybody (except Andreas who danced with her) she was very friendly and she looked genuinely happy to be there .
She talked a lot and at the end after I WILL SURVIVE she came back on the stage in a sort of day wear clothes , black pantacollant with a brown-black-white pull that she literally finished to wear on the stage while she sang I LOVE YOU as an encore . She said she gained weight (and of course everybody shouted NO!) and repeated more than once how great it was for her to perform in such a beautiful place ....and believe me it really was.... not only for her but also for all of us who enjoied the Show in a spectacular venue like the Theatre de la Citè in Carcassonne : at one point i tought how much great would have been for her to give a performance there with a full orchestra ...... Small-medium theatres are the kind of venues that suits better her talent and her beauty .
I have seen Miss Ross in concert dozen of times during the last 25 yrs and i saw ( and felt) the difference between her Montecarlo ' Show and the Carcassone' Show .... but of course this is just my opinion , and i look forward to hear more from others who attended the Shows :-)

Setlist as we all know except the “Lady sings the Blues “part , instead she did “Love you more today than yesterday” and “What about Love “ ...a great selection of Songs.
While “ I will Survive “ Miss Ross came over to me stretched out her Hand asked me to come on Stage , so i danced with her. When i left the Stage after a couple of minutes she said to me , I love you and thanks for supporting me , always to be there ! I said to Miss Ross “ I love you Miss Ross and left the Stage , while trying to find my way down to my Seat Miss Ross said , watch about the cables which were on the floor, i turned around and said “ dont worry i’m fine “ ....another great moment....well i had lots of fun :-)

Miss Ross also mentioned while she came back on stage already dressed very casual that she gained a lil weight , we all yelled ....NO ...even if she did , its alright she still looks gorgeous!!! I mean that:-)))
Walking around the old Castle was fanstatic , little tinny streets no way for a normal Car to get into it. Was wondering how Miss Ross would arrive there ..hmmm.. in Limosine or Mercedes or maybe a BMW ....NO WAY ..have a look how she was brought to the Hotel and to the Venue :-)

To be honest it was complicated for Miss Ross to get out of that Car, since it was very small and she had almost no space in the back. All i saw was lots of hairs in the back. After the Concert a driver was already waiting for Miss Ross to pick her up and to bring her to the hotel “ Hotel de la Cite “, but at this time all the Windows were covered with white towels, so it was hard to see anything inside the Car.
