"Superstar Diana Ross to Perform at "Monster Cable Retailer Awards and Concert" at CES 2009 in Las Vegas
Friday, January 9, 2009 at the Paris Hotel
There Just "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" to Keep Monster From Throwing a Show-Stopping Monsterous Bash at CES to Honor Its Valued Retailers With Awards
That’s because none other than the Queen of Motown herself, Diana Ross, will be this year’s very special guest artist for the concert. “It’s very important for us to show our appreciation to our dealers both with our awards and with an unforgettable concert each year at CES,” stated Noel Lee, The Head Monster. “While the word ‘legend’ is often used for entertainers, this year we have someone who unquestionably fits that description, Ms. Diana Ross. Not only did she dominate the music charts for decades, first with the Supremes and then as a solo artist, she is also a genuine movie star who has starred in such hits as The Wiz, Mahogany and, of course, Lady Sings the Blues, for which she received an Academy Award® nomination.”
Diana Ross delivers once again !!
Diana Ross delivered, what could only be described as a mind-blowing performance on the opening night of the Plymouth Jazz Festival in Tobago on Friday.

"SHE CAME, she sang and she conquered." All over again. But this time she was able to do her full one hour presentation, complete with dramatic costume changes and the assurance that Tobago was “her house” and she was going to live it up right here, right now
It seemed as if Ross' intention was to make it up to her fans who were disappointed after she was prematurely booted off the stage last year to accommodate hip-hop queen Mary J Blige's early departure from the island.
Ross paid a tribute of sorts to Trinidad and Tobago when she came out in a red shimmering gown with frills at the end, then making a quick change during her set, an act she is quite known for, into a white equally stunning number and then ending off her hour-long performance in a black gown.
Patrons in VIP and general admission were on their feet from the time Ross' name was announced by the emcee.
Ross made an iconic entrance onto the stage accompanied by the opening bars of her hit song "I'm Coming Out". Members of the audience greeted her with a loud uproar.

As occurred at the Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival in Montego Bay in January, Ross requested from the organisers that her image not be projected onto the three large screens set up at the venue.
Far from the reaction she received in Jamaica when she was booed as a result of her request, patrons at the Plymouth Recreation Ground just danced and sang along to every song. There were sustained shouts for her to return to the stage after singing her final song "I Will Survive" but "The Boss" was gone.
Some of her other songs included "Baby Love", "Stop In The Name of Love", "Can't Hurry Love", "Touch Me In The Morning", "A Lovely Day", "It's My House", Upside Down" and "Why Do Fools Fall In Love".
"Lady Diana Ross, the diva of divas, captured the hearts of the more than 9,000 strong audience at the Plymouth Jazz Festival "

Diana Ross Rocks Atlantic City Sunday 13th of January 2008
It was time. I’ve never seen Diana Ross in concert live, so in celebration of another birthday, it was off to The Borgata in Atlantic City to catch Ms. Ross dish out some delicious diva magic to her casino city acolytes on Sunday evening, January 13th, 2008.
In an electrifying red gown, one of four different costume changes during the evening, the Boss opened the show with what else, “I’m Coming Out."
Next, it was sing-a-long time with 3 Supremes numbers:
“My World Is Empty Without You Babe”
“Baby Love”
“Stop In The Name of Love”
Diana mixed the old and new quite well. The sold out crowd thoroughly enjoyed the vintage Supremes songs. Ms. Ross sounded terrific. She seemed well rested with energy to spare.
Following the Supremes medley, Diana eased into “Touch Me In The Morning,” “Love Hangover,” “The Boss,” and “It’s My House,” rekindling the cachet of her solo hit catalogue

DIANA ROSS TO PERFORM PRIVATE CONCERT IN HAMPTON - AUGUST 25TH 2007 An Evening Under the Stars Gala for the Diabetes Research Institute
The fog rolled into town but the stars were still shining in Southampton as over 500 people at the An Evening Under the Stars Gala for the Diabetes Research Institute excitedly awaited the supreme diva, Diana Ross. The athletic fields at Stony Brook Southampton were transformed for the evening into a massive tented cocktail area and ballroom by none other than event impresario Barton G. Guest glided up the white carpet covered stairs and entered glass doors into a space dressed in chartreuse upholstered walls, elegant white columns, and sleek white curved bars. Waiters passed delicious lamb chops, mini crab cake sandwiches, and scallops casino and champagne flowed freely. Eager fans tried to sneak a peek into the ballroom but the conscientious security was having none of that - we had to be patient.
Encased in a fiery red sequin encrusted gown complete with outrageous red chiffon ruffled cape Diana Ross entered the room to thunderous applause belting out, “I’m Coming Out”. Her amazing vocal range and stamina had us all wishing the concert would never end. She was sexy and powerful and her voice was clear, crisp, and filled with emotions. Unlike other performer of her era she still commands the full attention of any room she enters and gives over 100%. The masses were mesmerized as she continued with “Baby Love,” “Stop In The Name Of Love,” “Love Hangover,” “Can’t Hurry Love,” and “Touch Me In The Morning”.
After a quick break and costume change she emerged in a green dress that played up her curves and highlighted her flawless features. Women in the room were green with envy for her traffic-stopping figure. At 63, she had the energy a songbird a third her age and the stage presence and charisma few can match. She continued with “Soul Right,” “It’s My House,” “Love Child,” and “Upside Down.” With her signature smile, bedroom eyes, and flirty breathless conversation she held her audience as she performed “Ease on Down the Road” from the musical “The Wiz” in which she starred along side Michael Jackson, Lena Horne, Richard Pryor, and Mabel King.

Cheering guests leapt to their feet and began singing along and dancing between tables. Ross regaled her excited fans with 17 of her classic tunes, including “Baby Love,” “Stop in the Name of Love,” and “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough,” and in no time, the dance floor in front of the stage was packed with grooving fans.

“An example for all of us”, comments Nelson Mandela. “The spirit, energy and history of American soul music condensed into one voice” according to others. The Guinness Book of World Records named Diana Ross the most successful female music artist of the Twentieth Century. Born in Detroit in 1944, Diana Ross started her career with The Supremes.
Twelve of their singles – including “Baby Love” – were n°1 hits in the charts… a hitherto unprecedented exploit. She embarked on her solo career in the 1970s with “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough”. As an actress, Diana Ross was an Oscar nominee for her role as Billie Holiday in “Lady sings the Blues”. In 1973, she released a superb album with Marvin Gaye: “Diana & Marvin”.
She went on a world tour with the two distinguished tenors Placido Domingo and José Carreras. In 1979 and 1980, she recorded two of her finest albums: “The Boss” and “Diana”. The following year, “Endless Love”, sung with Lionel Richie, was a planetary hit. Parallel to her musical career, Diana Ross devotes much of her time defending various causes – particularly those concerned with feminism or children.
“The complexity of being black and female, a performer, having my own business, being strong and decisive, sometimes being sad and afraid. But at the same time, singing has opened up a world touched by wonder…a world of possibilities.
” With “I love you”, released in 2006, the public will rediscover the magic of one of the most influential ladies in soul music.

Jan. 16, 2007 — First with the Supremes and then as a solo artist, Diana Ross is one of those rare entertainers who has shaped American pop culture.
With her string of No. 1 hits, confidence and cutting-edge fashion sense, Diana Ross and the Supremes became the biggest and most successful American female group of the 1960s.
Ross then stepped into the limelight on her own with a string of smash solo hits, not to mention her triumphs on the silver screen. With her searing portrayal of Billie Holiday in "Lady Sings the Blues," Ross garnered an Oscar nomination for Best Actress.
'Excited' for 'Dreamgirls' Cast Now Ross is back in the headlines, though indirectly, thanks to the hit movie "Dreamgirls," which has been called a thinly veiled history of the Supremes.
One of the film's stars, Beyonce, acknowledged she had a shrine to Ross in her trailer, and watched her movies to prepare for the role. Ross said to ABC News' Diane Sawyer on "Good Morning America" that she has not seen the movie yet.
"Maybe I should go see it with my lawyer," she joked. <---
Ross has refused to comment on the movie, but today she said she was "happy" for the cast.
"I've only heard what everybody else says, that it's very much my image and likeness," she said. "So if I've had an opportunity to influence any of these beautiful, talented young people, then I'm excited about it."
Secrets to Longevity in Show Business
"I Love You," Ross's first studio album in seven years, comes out today. The album is a collection of classic love songs, including "Lovely Day," "More Today Than Yesterday" and "The Look of Love."

The 62-year-old also joked about being "the aging diva," saying that some of her makeup tricks have changed over the years.
Judging from the audience reaction during her "Good Morning America" concert, the singer's star power hasn't dimmed a bit.
Looking back on her career, Ross said she was thankful for the mentors she had who helped her along the way. She said young artists should look beyond image-making and focus on longevity.
"Well, I just think it's really important that this industry, and especially for the females, but all of us — it's show business," Ross said. "There's a business here, and it's not just about the image. It's about what goes on inside of you. It's the interior as well as the exterior."

When Letterman asked her whether she was curious about the film, Ross joked:

The film, which won a Golden Globe on Monday for best musical or comedy, tells the story of a Motown trio similar to the Supremes and their rise to fame. Ross went on to say that she's heard there is a lot of her image and likeness in the movie. Beyonce Knowles' character, Deena Jones, looks like Ross during her early solo days.
